Rayonna Lash is a visual artist based out of Flagstaff, AZ. Her primary exploration is on the essence behind the manifest, the emotions behind the flesh, the ephemeral inside what appears solid and taken-for-granted. As much as science has progressed, we still can’t answer the most basic questions about the origins of life, and so, that phenomenon, still undescribed to the intellect, remains imbued with magic. This subject is a natural fit for 2D art, since its natural limits speak inherently to this dichotomy: static and heavy are the pigments from nature, carried in oil, set on canvas or wood, as solid and tangible as anything, yet Rayonna’s art seems to seethe with tension, as if life can and will spring forth. Equally mysterious are human emotions, which seem to follow no laws we understand, and yet lead us equally, if not more powerfully, through life than reason. As if at sea, we are driven by desires as secret and mysterious as the invisible lifeforce within, and any meaning within this life-mash of elements, flesh, organs, emotions seems to slip away with every grasp. Rayonna’s art attempts to capture an epiphany before it’s inevitable slide back into the void.
Rayonna studied art and graphic design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and has a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Arizona University.
